An album of 16 expressive sacred songs and arias sung by 14 year old Christchurch soprano, Samantha Jeune, with organ accompaniment by Graham Hollobon.

An atmosphere that is both serene and uplifting is sustained throughout this disc by works drawn from a vocal repertoire spanning 5 centuries, which offer a variety of styles from simple prayers to Baroque arias.

Firmly established sacred favourites alternate with interesting rarities, and a variety of solo instruments add to the sonority of the organ accompaniment on many tracks; the trumpet played by Samantha’s 15 year old sister Alannah, the flute and sopranino recorder by Samantha. On other tracks, the organ is not heard at all, allowing solo instruments to weave their own melodies around the vocal line. Ethereal a cappella moments are dotted throughout the album.

“In My Father’s House” was recorded during April 2008 in Samantha and Alannah’s family church, The Merivale church of the St Albans Uniting Parish.

All profits from the sale of each CD will be donated to the Canterbury Charity Hospital Trust.

Each CD is being sold for $25.00
